It has been announced that the four-times Tony-nominated actress is to star on Broadway this September in Dan Gordon’s play Irena’s Vow. Best known for her Jewish roles (she was the first to play Yentl on stage), Feldshuh is this time playing a real-life Catholic — albeit one with a strong Jewish connection. She plays Irena Gut Opdyke, in what is described as a life-affirming story about one of the most courageous and unsung heroines of World War II. During the German occupation of Poland, Opdyke protected 12 Jewish refugees whom she secretly took under her care. The play begins its run in New York on September 7.
