Cannes showing for local filmmaker

Young film director Simon Glass’s film, Yakov, My Boy — which premiered at Leeds International Performing Arts Festival last September — was shown as part of the Cannes Short Film Corner. Some 150 people from the community attended Etz Chaim Synagogue when the film’s barmitzvah sequence was shot last year. “It’s quite a leap going from Leeds to the Cannes Film Festival,” said Mr Glass, 22.
