Sukkotingham Forest capped off a memorable first season in the Maccabi GB Southern Football League by completing a league and cup double on Monday.

The club were only formed in the summer but have enjoyed a stellar league campaign that saw them crowned Division Two champions with several games to spare. They romped to the title unbeaten, having won 11 and drawn 1 of their 12 games to date. They still have two games left to play, though, and must remain unbeaten in those to claim the title “Invincibles”.

Their dream debut year got even better on Bank Holiday Monday as they fought back from going a goal down to beat Beitar Bushey 2-1 to claim the David Wolff Division Two Cup.

They drew level before half-time thanks to Louis Sherry’s strike, before Sam Mallett scored in the second half to seal the win.

Speaking about his side’s performance, manager Sam Nagioff said: “It wasn’t our best performance against what was a strong and organised Bushey side, but we dug in deep to get the winner.

“I thought we deserved the win overall, given that we had the majority of the ball and the best chances throughout the game.”

Reflecting back on this season and also looking ahead to next year, he added: “I’m very proud of the boys on a fantastic season and am now looking forward to challenging in a higher division. We believe in our ability and that we can go all the way.”
