HMH A’s bid to become the first club to complete a Maccabi GB Southern Football League and Cup quadruple moved a step closer on Sunday morning when they won the Cyril Anekstein Cup by beating Redbridge Jewish Care 4-1 in the final. Goals from Clark Norton, George Goldberg, Ethan Krell and Joe Glaskie saw them add to their trophy haul for the season, in which they have already taken the Premier Division title and Peter Morrison Trophy. Joint-managers Alex Moss and Eli Wegrzyn said: “To be treble winners is extremely special. Not many teams in the history of the MGBSFL have lifted all three in one season.” Reflecting on their latest victory, captain Jake Norton said: “Redbridge started strong and did well to go ahead, but once we got our foot on the ball and started playing, we managed to break them down and worked well for the victory.” HMH A now hope to now claim a fourth trophy of the season when they take on Hendon United, the side they pipped to the Premier Division title, in the final of the David Wolff Premier Division Cup on Sunday. Moss and Wegrzyn said: “The squad is in great spirit. This season has only ever been about taking each game as it comes and nothing changes this week. The quadruple would of course be unprecedented, but we know that unless we work hard and earn the right to play our football then nothing is guaranteed.” Also claiming silverware on Sunday were Geez Park Rangers, who beat Brady FC 3-0 to win the Super Cup. Samuel Morris scored twice, with Ethan Gabriel Mooney also on target.
