HMH A wrote their names into the Maccabi GB Southern Football League record books on Sunday when they became the first side to complete a league and cup quadruple. Having won the Premier Division title, Peter Morrison Trophy and Cyril Anekstein Cup, they beat Hendon United A to clinch the David Wolff Premier Division Cup. And they secured their place in history in the most dramatic of fashion, when goalkeeper Jake Lewis came up for a last-minute corner to head home an equaliser to take the tie to penalties. Joint-managers Alex Moss and Eli Wegrzyn said afterwards: “It’s an unbelievable achievement and one that will be etched in the history books. “We always enjoy reading the list of names on the trophies dating back to the 1950s and for us to have gone and won each and every one of them puts us right up there with the best Jewish football teams in this country’s history. Everyone involved this season should be so proud.” Lewis headed home to make the final score 2-2 after George Goldberg fired HMH A ahead early. In the shoot-out Ethan Krell, Billy Lee, Sammy Kingston, Charlie Ezra, Ben Gur and Saul Norton all converted to set off wild scenes of celebration. Outlining what he felt were the team’s key factors in winning four trophies, captain Jake Norton said: “Every week we say we need to earn the right to win.”
