More than 200 people attended Crawford Art Gallery to hear Rabbi Morton Shein speak about “The Response of the Cork Hebrew Congregation to the Lusitania Disaster”. He explained how Cork Chevra Kadisha members identified Jewish victims of the May 7 1915 sinking of the Lusitania. A memorial ceremony was held at Cork Jewish Cemetery for the unveiling of a monument to three Jewish crew members who drowned in the sinking.
