David Domb is relishing the chance to return to London with his Hyde Park side after they were paired with Shirley Park in the Fourth Round of the Peter Morrison Trophy.

The Leeds-based students moved up to third in the MJSL following Sunday’s 6-2 win over Crumpsall and are starting to find their form after a slow start to the season.

Third division Shirley Park clinched their place in the last-16 following a stunning 2-1 win at Premier Division Southgate Harmen A.

Shirley have lost just once this season and are the top scorers in the entire MSFL with 57 league goals from their eight games.

But Domb says his side can’t wait to face he likes of Nicky Plotnek and Stefan Benfredj when the competition continues early next year.

“We’re delighted with the draw because we wanted to get a London team and that’s what we’ve got,” said Domb.

“They’re obviously a very good team because they went to a Premier Division team and won and that’s no mean feat.

“I know a few of their players, but we’ll just go down there, have some fun and try and get a result.

“We’re all going to be fired up for it and it should be a great occasion.”

Rovers are looking in rude health going into the winter break with their latest success coming during a rain-soaked affair in Manchester.

David Herman, Paul Clayton, Ben Roback, Oli Grant, Jay Rosenthal were all on the scoresheet with an own-goal completing the rout.

And Domb says he was encouraged by the performance with the rain making it nearly impossible to play.

“I was surprised the game wasn’t called off because the rain was unbelievable,” he added.

“The pitch was soaked and it was difficult to play but we got the win and we’ll try and end the year on a high next week.

“We’ve got Leeds Maccabi 3rd next week and they’re a team who have really improved in recent weeks.

“We’ll be treating it as any other game and looking to get three points.”
