The JC recently revealed the first tantalising hint about the content of the first film to be made by theatre director Simon McBurney - co-founder of the award-laden theatre company Complicite - and New York novelist Jonathan Safran Foer.
The thinking is that Foer will write his debut screenplay and McBurney, whose revival of Arthur Miller's All My Sons, starring John Lithgow, Katie Holmes and Dianne Wiest, is currently on Broadway, will direct.
"Simon and Jonathan have been corresponding and meeting to make something for the cinema that reflects a shared vision of the absurdity of our times - and the absurdity of time," Complicite's producer Judith Dimant tells the JC.
Dimant also says that she is looking for funding and that applications have been filed with the UK Film Council for development money to produce Foer's script. With talents like Foer and McBurney on board, the council would be crazy not to grab the chance with both hands.
