Next weekend (July 5) sees the Pride parade roll into the capital.
There might be no official Jewish contingent (again) this year, but there’s plenty of foodie fun to be had with three fabulous foodie events taking place.
Kick off your weekend at the Jewish Vegan Society and Sapphic Shabbat’s pop-up Pride Friday night dinner at the JVS’s home in Golders Green.
Sapphic Shabbat curates intimate Shabbat dinners for Jewish sapphics and the JVS (formerly the Jewish Vegetarian Society and now vegan) is the community’s go-to for food ethics, animal welfare, and sustainability.
The two groups have collaborated to host a Friday night feast for the LGBTQ+ community and their allies to which, they say, everyone is welcome.
The three-course meal will include a plant-based rainbow Asian inspired theme, including summer rolls, chickpea and rainbow veg curry and a special surprise dessert. Tickets (£15 - £20 are available) by emailing zoe@jvs.org.uk
Further south in Soho, queer-owned Kapara restaurant has been celebrating Pride all month. They’ll be continuing the celebrations over the entire weekend. Founder Eran Tibi and team have created a collection of Pride-themed food and drinks. There are cocktails that include the Pisco Inferno — a blend of Pisco, mango gazoz syrup, citric syrup and lime juice — and if you’re more of a shot lover, the Rainbow Heatwave, that’s made up of pineapple-based rum, mango gazoz syrup and umeshu (Japanese plum liqueur) topped with vegan cream.

The main character on the food menu is a multi-coloured, rainbow Proud Babka, charred on the robata grill and filled with lemon thyme crème anglaise and cherry compote. And on July 5 — parade day — they’re opening their gorgeous al fresco terrace to refuel partygoers as a Pride pit stop. You’ll be able to nibble on snacks including pitta chips with garlic tahini and tabbouleh salad on their terrace. Billed as a a safe space where everyone is welcome.
Also in Soho, Israeli pita joint, Miznon, will be hosting their own Pride party together between 2pm and 5pm with the Hineni Project.
Expect dancing, drinks and dancing to the biggest Jewish bangers plus Miznon’s delicious menu of Israeli-style filled pitas which include falafel; cauliflower and the London special fish and chip-filled bread.
Proper Jewish joy.
