Max Barnett proved the difference as his hat-trick piled on the early-season misery for Maccabi Manchester Blue in this nine-goal thriller.

Barnett bagged a treble to maintain Haroldeans’ perfect start to the season.

But Jonny Rose’s side will be kicking themselves for failing to pick up their first points off the season.

Yonni Green’s double along with strikes from Adam Jackson and Ben Gould had left the Merseysiders trailing 4-3 at the break.

But Barnett took over with Zack Goldsmith and Adam Boyars also weighing in to help Mike Bloomberg’s men launch a second-half recovery.

Blues boss Rose said: "I feel we have a stronger side this year. We are more competitive but it’s about us getting that rub of the green now in matches."
