MJSL JOAN COLLINS PREMIER DIVISION
MANCHESTER MACCABI BLUE 8 SOUTH MANCHESTER SPORTS 2nd 0
Maccabi Manchester Blue warmed up for the Shonn Trophy final by running riot against South Manchester Sports 2nd.
Jonathan Rose’s side continued their impressive end of season form as Roy Fux bagged five goals in this blitz.
Nathan Pitt’s brace and Charlie Simpson also weighed in for the much-changed hosts against a South Manchester side who saw Mike Herz red carded.
It’s all the more impressive given the Blues - who have one eye on their showdown at Salford City - were propping up the MJSL table last month.
Now that unwanted basement boys belongs to Reich Insurance Rangers – who ironically play the Blues on Thursday night.
Rose said: "We've hit a nice run of form and we don’t want our season to end. It took me a while to learn our strengths but we now have the right blend of youngsters and veterans.
"Everyone is disappointed we didn’t start well and it wasn’t too long ago that we were rooted to the bottom. Now we are a solid unit and will be favourites against Reich. We will embrace that challenge and we'll be desperate to win."
Elsewhere, Heaton Park Rovers climbed off the foot of the table at the expense of Reich following their 5-4 win.
Joe Copeland’s double proved the difference in the nine-goal thriller.
