TONY MILCH is targeting an Area Title fight next year after maintaining his unbeaten start to his professional career.

Milch sealed his ninth successive victory thanks to a 58-56 points win over veteran Kevin McCauley at the Camden Centre.

The Bushey bruiser, 34, was in complete control against McAuley, in his 128th fight, in Kings Cross.

Light-middleweight Milch is eyeing bigger things in 2016 and said: “It was a good learning fight against an experienced opponent who knows what he is doing.

"I wanted a KO and to put on a show. But I didn’t want to get dragged into a scrap with a brawler and I used the jab to keep him at an arm’s length.

"I felt relaxed and comfortable throughout. It’s about getting rounds in the bank. But I want an Area title fight now. I feel ready to step up and I’m looking for 10-round fight.

"This is the fittest and strongest I have felt. It’s been two-and-a-half year since I turned pro and I’m ready to take the step up now.”

Milch hopes his next fight will be swelled by numbers. With the fight taking place on a Friday night, his support was down but Milch said: “I told my promoter Micky Helliott that I would have a lot more fans if it wasn’t on a Friday night.

"But next year my fights will be on a Saturday evening. That’s what I want. I’m hoping to get back into the ring either in February or March."
