MANCHESTER ACCOUNTANTS LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
AFC FLIXTON 4 SOUTH MANCHESTER SPORTS CLUB 1st 1
Stuart Delmonte insists Leor Sidle is one of the hottest properties around in the Accountants Premier Division after the marksman continued his sparkling start to the new season by helping AFC Flixton gun down arch-rivals South Manchester Sports.
Sidle took his tally to 12 goals in just five games after his hat-trick kept Flixton at the summit.
Sidle put Flixton ahead in the first half, only for Louis Rawlings to level for South, turning his man brilliantly before firing a snapshot from 20 yards past the keeper.
Sidle restored Flixton’s lead from the penalty spot moments after the break – and there would be no way back for South Manchester. Richard Walker extended Flixton’s lead before Sidle completed his treble late on.
Flixton joint-boss Stuart Delmonte said: “It was a comfortable win for us against a young side.
"Once we got our noses in front in the second-half we put our foot on the pedal. We kept the ball and made the most of our big pitch.
"They ran out of gas towards the end and we could have scored more. But we will take this and move on to our
next game against Deloitte."
South's Toby Levy told JC Sport: "We matched Flixton for an hour, frustrating them at times. The penalty decision at 1-1 - which can't be denied, set us back mentally. Alex Davies got both hands on the penalty, but unfortunately just couldn't steer it to safety.
"No excuses however, we were beaten by a better side who should run away with the title."
Delmonte reserved special praise for summer signing Sidle and added: "Leor has proven to be a fine acquisition.
"He is strong and quick with an eye for goal. Teams won’t like playing against him."
