So, Liza Minnelli — best known as the ex-wife of David Gest, at least to viewers of I’m A Celebrity… and Grease is the Word, on which Gest was a familiar face — will soon start her UK tour at London’s Coliseum. Minnelli, who should, of course, be best known for her Oscar-winning role in the movie Cabaret, arrives soon after her ex’s own appearance in a UK production — his much-ignored musical David Gest Is Nuts. Which is a shame, because when it comes to choosing between seeing Minnelli or Gest — who clearly took the maxim “only marry out if you marry up” truly to heart — there is a rare pleasure in the utter absence of dilemma.
