League leaders Haroldeans face reigning champions Manchester Maccabi 3rd in a mouthwatering clash in Liverpool as the MJSL returns to action.
The Merseysiders are six points clear at the top and have lost just once in the league this season, with that defeat coming against Steve Bentwood’s Maccabi side.
Sheldon Lee scored twice on that occasion with Jamie Harris’ strike unable to save Haroldeans’ unbeaten record.
Boss Ivan Gee will be keen to stretch his side’s lead to nine points with second-placed Oakhill not in action until January 22nd.
But Maccabi are expected to prove a tough nut to crack and could inflict a lethal blow to Haroldeans’ hopes of landing the league title.
Elsewhere, Republic of Mancunia 1st take on Republic of Mancunia 2nd with both teams firmly in mid-table.
It has been a disappointing season for the first team, who made a sluggish start under former boss Stuart Shapiro.
New manager Les Blackston has steadied the ship although his side have won just four times so far this season.
Republic 2nd boss Paul Levy has overseen a season of transition with a whole set of new players coming into the club.
They sit just a point above Republic 1st having played a game more, with the two sides having played out a 1-1 draw back in August.
Sporting JLGB will be hoping to give boss Gavin Sharpe the perfect present after he announced his engagement.
Sporting host basement boys Broughton at Frederick Road, with the visitors having lost all 12 league games so far this season.
Sharpe’s men are currently fourth in the MJSL and thrashed Republic 2nd 4-1 in their final outing of 2011.
Leeds Maccabi 3rd take on Crumpsall with Alex Ullmann’s men looking to record their second win of the season.
Crumpsall ran out 5-3 winners back in October with Frenchie Freedman netting a hat-trick and Gav Bolel scoring a classy double.
But Leeds have improved in recent weeks and a win would take them to within three points of Crumpsall in the league table.
