Leeds Sunday Alliance Division Two
Real Porto 5
Leeds Maccabi 2nd 3
Leeds Maccabi 2nd boss Simon Fisher slammed his side’s ‘schoolboy defending’ after his team crashed to a ninth consecutive league defeat.
Dan Goldstone’s volley had given Maccabi a 25th minute lead, but a whole host of errors allowed Real Porto to run riot after the break.
With the game tied at 1-1 at half-time, 15 minutes of madness allowed Real to score three times without reply to take command of the contest.
Rafi Kaye pulled a goal back to make it 4-2, before another defensive error gifted the home side a fifth.
Nick Vale rounded off a flowing team move to reduce the deficit to two, but Maccabi were once again left to rue their inability to keep a clean sheet.
“Whilst not happy about the string of poor results, I am pleased with the level of commitment and some of the very good football we are playing,” said Fisher.
“We have suffered through absences and injuries but need to cut out the schoolboy defending errors regardless of the personnel.
