Talking of which, Calcutta Kosher author Shelley Silas has been asked by the National Youth Theatre to write a play about Gaza. It follows another work by Silas about the conflict called Moses Mohammed (aka Jaffa Boys) which has yet to find a theatre. Notebook saw a rehearsed reading and thought the work moving and even-handed. But the play did not get picked up, according to one source, “because everyone was scared to do it”.
