International aid charity World Jewish Relief has launched an emergency appeal for victims of the Burma cyclone.

WJR says that food, cooking equipment, health kits, mosquito nets, water purification tablets and plastic sheeting are urgently required.

Chief executive Paul Anticoni urged the community to rally to the aid of survivors. “Access for aid agencies is heavily restricted but WJR will endeavour to work as closely as possible with potential partners on the ground.” The aim was to help those most affected, “by providing clean water, sanitation resources and safe shelter”.
