There was a shock in the semi-final of the Cyril Anekstein Cup as Division One promotion hopefuls Redbridge Jewish Care stunned Premier Division champions-in-waiting Hendon United 2-0. Bailey Brown scored for the victors, with manager Brandon Levene saying: “I couldn’t be prouder of the performance from the boys. The way we worked as a team, stuck to the game plan, fought for every single ball, got up and down the pitch was absolutely incredible. We knew it would be a massive challenge and we were the underdogs but we know that on our day, we can beat anyone. We’ll be underdogs for the final, but if we fight as hard as we did against Hendon, we have every chance of beating HMH in the final and most importantly, we believe we can do it.” Hendon manager Alex Rosenthal saying: “It was a disappointing performance. After conceding a cheap goal from a corner, we were just not clinical enough.”
