Changing times at Kenton

Maccabi’s Kenton centre has a new name — Kulanu, the Hebrew for “all of us together” — as part of a redevelopment programme.

Former Maccabi GB chairman Richard Feldman, who has been involved in the Kenton centre since its inception 30 years ago, said: “Changes had to be made for the centre to remain relevant. A view was taken that the traditional Jewish youth club, catering for fixed age groups, was no longer an appropriate model.”

After extensive refurbishment, the premises now include a modern cushioned gym floor and a snooker room with full-sized table.

As part of a new programme of youth, sport and community activities, there will be coaching in football, cricket and basketball. And to reach a wider audience, there are plans for ulpan classes, computer courses, Pilates and keep-fit.

A creche has been provided so that adults taking part in morning activities can drop off their children.
