Staff and volunteers from Jewish Care’s Golders Green head office, Stuart Young House, will decamp temporarily to Colindale early next month to enable work to start on a £40 million multi-purpose care campus.

This incorporates a 54-bed care home, 45 “extra care” supported living apartments, a day centre and the charity’s offices. Building work is expected to take two-and-a-half years.

The relocation to Merit House, in Edgware Road, will be staggered as it involves over 100 people, including helpline staff, the social work and home care teams and the finance and fundraising departments. Phone numbers will remain unchanged.

Chief executive Simon Morris looked forward to “a new era. I feel very proud that we are embarking on such an ambitious project that will benefit our community in so many ways”.
