Chigwell scores well with Ofsted

Chigwell and Hainault Synagogue's holiday club has received a good report from Ofsted.

An unannounced inspection during the half-term holiday programme found that participants "thoroughly enjoy being in this setting. Children make good progress in their learning and development because staff have a sound knowledge of the children."

The inspection was made as the Chiglets club was running an autumn-themed programme, with youngsters and volunteer staff engaged in a variety of seasonal arts and crafts, as well as sporting activities and a treasure hunt.

Club leader Sandra Waldman said the report was "really something to be proud of, knowing that the efforts of all our volunteers are being recognised. I feel like shouting this to the rafters."

The Maccabi-affiliated club has close on 120 members. It also operates an after-school facility.
