Twenty-three people attended the inaugural service of the Gloucestershire Liberal Jewish Community, held last Friday at the Cheltenham home of David and Sue Naydorf.
The service was conducted by Liberal Judaism outreach director Rabbi Aaron Goldstein and the fledgeling community reports “excellent feedback”. Another service is planned for tonight with a garden party next month.
Rabbi Goldstein said the turnout at the first service demonstrated the potential for a Liberal congregation in the area. “There was an incredible buzz. Some of those present had occasionally attended Cheltenham Hebrew Congregation. Others had not been to a service for some time.”
