JNF, Anglo-Jewry’s leading charity for Israel, has appointed a new chief executive. Elliot Conway, currently director of the Interparliamentary Council on Antisemitism, will take up his post in the New Year.

His appointment will draw a line after a turbulent period in the charity’s history which saw the departure of the previous chief executive Simon Winters and chair Gail Seal and a lengthy and costly court action involving Keren Kayemet L’Israel.

Mr Conway, 31, said he “felt it was an opportunity that I could not pass up because building the land of Israel, supporting its people and creating ever closer ties with the Jewish community in this country is a mission and a challenge that I will love to take on.”

Mr Conway would not comment on the difficulties through which JNF has navigated recently but said: “There is a lot of work to be done and I am confident that we can do it.”
