One-hundred Israeli teenagers from UJIA’s partnership region in the Galil will be hosted by 14 UK communities for the 2008 Magic Moments programme.
The youngsters — who will be here for Yom Hazikaron and Yom Atzmaut — will visit schools and community centres to forge ties with their British counterparts. A highlight will be a Yom Hazikaron/Yom Atzmaut ceremony which they will prepare and lead.
UJIA Magic Moments chairman Sharman Berwald said that the annual scheme had a profound impact on participants and those they encountered. “The young ambassadors come with a sense of mission to promote the spirit of Israel.”
Elstree, Bushey, Kingston, Radlett, Muswell Hill, Pinner, Stanmore, Northwood, Chigwell, Maidenhead, Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham and Manchester are the host communities.
