Irish kosher caterer Hinda Bloom will be making her TV debut on Sunday when she rustles up some dishes for a lunchtime religious affairs programme.
She is appearing on Spirit Level, presented by Joe Duffy, which goes out on Irish channel RTE1 at 1.10pm.
“They’ve never featured kosher catering before,” said Ms Bloom, “They didn’t have a clue what kosher food was, so I had to explain it to them.”
Her selected dishes were latkes and shakshuka, the spicy Middle Eastern egg and tomato dish.
“They wanted something that you could do for Sunday brunch,” she said. “I chose something simple that everyone in the country could make, including vegetarians. Everyone would have the ingredients in their storecupboards.”
During the week, Ms Bloom provides kosher meals for visitors to local hotels and conferences. The orders are already coming in for a major event next month – the Web Summit in Dublin.
