May 18, 2023 10:08A former adviser to prime minister David Cameron now hoping to stand as the Conservative candidate to be London mayor has spoken of his pride of his Jewish heritage.
Daniel Korski, 48, said his faith was a private matter and “not part of my politics” but added he was “immensely proud of being Jewish”.
However, he added: “In political terms, my religion is lightly worn”. He has previously revealed how his “parents fled Poland in the 1960s along with thousands of Jews”.
A member of the New London Synagogue and a vice-president of the Jewish Leadership Council, he said that if he was selected to run to be mayor he focus his campaign on increasing opportunities for Londoners.
Daniel korski Author (3)He said he already had support for his campaign from several prominent Tories, including Tugendhat, Baroness Shields, Development minister Andrew Mitchell, George Freeman and Alicia Kearns, the chair of the foreign affairs select committee chair.

London is increasingly a Labour city, but more Labour has not meant a greater London.

A London Labour source said: "Londoners know exactly what the Tories are about - a cost-of-living crisis, soaring housing costs, huge cuts to public services, and opposing measures to clean up our dirty air. Whoever the Tories select as their candidate Sadiq will be proudly campaigning on his record delivering for Londoners, building record numbers of council homes, giving primary children free school meals and cleaning up our air despite the actions of this woeful Government."
