A Princess, a Duke and a Python were among the guests at the third annual patrons’ dinner of the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies.
Diners at the Drapers’ Hall in London included guest of honour the Duke of Kent and Princess Badiya el Hassan, daughter of Prince Hassan of Jordan, who is a governor of the centre.
The guest speaker was Monty Python star and globetrotting BBC presenter Michael Palin, who saluted the centre’s founder, the late David Patterson.
“It is not given to many of us to have the foresight and determination to found an Oxford institution,” he said. “The centre and its success is welcome evidence that Oxford has a future at the very top of the game.”
