Schools Minister Lord Nash, Sara Khan, founder of Inspire, the charity to empower Muslim women, former Security Minister Lord West and 9/11 Memorial vice-president Cliff Chanin will also be appearing at the Since 9/11 event for teachers in Birmingham on January 27.

The charity — which was founded by chairman Peter Rosengard — uses cross-curricular material developed by University College London’s Institute of Education about the attack on New York “to convey important lessons on history, religious tolerance and society for young people,” explained Since 9/11 director Jen Halmshaw.

Next month, she said, “we will be launching new, free classroom materials designed to teach tolerance, and respect for all faiths — helping schools to meet their duty to promote fundamental British values.”
