Stand up for a seat deal

First the good news. Travelex boss Lloyd Dorfman revealed in last week’s JC that his company is continuing to sponsor the National Theatre’s £10-a-seat season. The deal was and remains a cornerstone of artistic director Nick Hytner’s vision to make the National more accessible to a younger and more diverse audience.

Notebook doesn’t go in much for patting the backs of corporations which, let’s face it, wouldn’t be benefactors of the arts if they didn’t benefit themselves. But 10 out of 10 anyway for Mr Dorfman who, the National tells Notebook, has just signed a sponsorship deal that will take the Travelex Season into its tenth year.
