A reception was held at the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue in tribute to Judith Hassan — Jewish Care’s director of services for Holocaust survivors and refugees and founder of the Holocaust Survivors’ Centre — who was awarded an OBE in the New Year honours. She was praised by Jewish Care president Lord Levy on her “outstanding” work for survivors. Other tributes were paid by survivors’ centre members Alec Ward and Freddie Knoller.
