Lady Jakabovits, wife of the late Chief Rabbi, was told of the need for more volunteers to work with the mentally ill when she visited the Jewish Care residential home in Mapesbury Road, Willesden. Home manager Anthea Jones said: “It was lovely. Lady J sat in the lounge and spoke to the residents, asking about their backgrounds, where they used to live and how long they had been in the home.”
