A deadly double from Josh Kennet ensured London Lions registered a hard-fought win over Letchworth.

The visitors raced into a two-goal lead thanks to some great play between midfielders Charlie Kasler and match-winner Kennet, scoring two strikingly similar first-half goals.

Kasler's raking 40-yard passes picking out Kennet beyond the left back on both occasions. The first occasion saw Lions’ midfielder bring the ball down with his first touch taking him away from the defender to fire home and open the score.

When the trick was repeated by Kasler, Kennet this time had more to do, beating three players before finishing an outstanding goal.

To their credit, Letchworth did not let their heads drop and they pulled one back from the penalty spot in the second half.

But Lions saw the game out and with other results going their way are now five points clear at the top of the Herts County Premier Division.

Lions manager Andy Landesberg was delighted with the team’s ninth consecutive league win. He said: "Every time we have a challenge, the boys seem to be able to step up.

"Today’s game was difficult against decent opposition, so to come through it is very pleasing.

"The team has a good character about it at the moment."
