A day for non-Jews

Probably the most important point about Holocaust Memorial Day is that it is not for Jews. Not specifically for Jews, we should say. The memory and lessons of the Shoah are universal, which is why HMD carries such weight. As Ian Austin writes , even in a town like Dudley, which has almost no Jewish tradition, HMD now draws hundreds and resonates across the community. It is a sombre day, but a welcome one.
