Deliberate scandal

Rarely does one come across as clear an example of institutionalised antisemitism as that at the Jobcentres in Cheetham Hill and Prestwich.

The managers who are denying Job Seekers' Allowance to Shabbat-observant Jews are not merely wrong in fact - JSA regulations specifically recognise Shabbat as an exemption from the usual rules - but are acting deliberately to discriminate against Jews because of the way they practise their religion. The odd mistake in applying the rules is understandable. But what is happening here is ongoing, and is repeated despite numerous attempts to point out the regulations.

This is a scandal which has to end immediately.
