Any move which undermines the freedom of our faith schools must be resisted and condemned. But the objections from some quarters to Michael Gove's reforms to GCSEs on the basis that the new exams involve a basic study of evolution are risible and discredit the entire foundation of faith schools. Teaching science to young Jewish children is not the enemy of knowledge. It is a prerequisite of it. Whatever religious or philosophical beliefs one holds.
