Mary Hassell, the inner north London coroner, complains that she is "bullied" by Jews.
Leave aside her choice of language, rightly condemned by the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office. It is certainly true that many Jews - and Muslims - have been exasperated by Ms Hassell's behaviour as coroner. Had she any sense of self-awareness, she might realise that there is a lesson in the fact that, of all the coroners in the land, she is the only one who prompts such regular complaints.
In a modern, diverse city, the ability to work with all communities is a prerequisite. That Ms Hassell cannot do that sends its own message about her suitability for her role.
