There is an argument that we should somehow be grateful that Jeremy Corbyn has condemned Sir Gerald Kaufman's antisemitic rant, describing it as "unacceptable and deeply regrettable" .
An argument, yes, but a bad one. First, it took the Labour leader six days before he could bring himself to address the issue. What is far worse, however, is that the MP for Manchester Gorton has not received even a slapped wrist, let alone any significant disciplinary action.
Since Mr Corbyn acknowledges that the remarks are "unacceptable", only one conclusion is possible. He does not think that when one of his MPs demonstrates unambiguous antisemitism , it merits even minor disciplinary action.
At least we know where we stand with Mr Corbyn.
