Wallström’s rants

Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström has demanded that Israel is investigated for supposed “extrajudicial killings” of Palestinians. She seems oblivious to what the Palestinians were doing when they were shot. They were driving their cars into crowds at bus stops, lunging at shoppers with meat cleavers and stabbing random passers-by.

Does Mrs Wallström think it is wrong for anyone to use force when someone is trying to kill them? Or is it just Israelis who she believes should be barred from defending themselves? Mrs Wallström — formerly an EU Commissioner — has become something of a rent-a-quote Israel baiter since taking up her current position in October 2014. Two months ago she linked the terror attacks in Paris to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, and in a Swedish parliamentary debate last month said that the Israeli response to the recent wave of terror was “disproportionate”.

Such distortions would be extreme from a fringe BDS protestor. From the woman directing Swedish foreign policy, who has turned herself into a figurehead for the boycott movement worldwide, they are decidedly unbecoming.
